General Information
Riverdale Golf Club is an Adams County facility located in Brighton, just north of Denver. The property features two 18-hile championship courses - the Dunes and the Knolls. The
Knolls course in an open parkland design over a rolling terrain criss-crossed by canals with 3 sets of tee boxes that play to distances and slopes measuring 6784 yards/123
slope, 6434 yards/119 slope and 5830 yards with a slope of 113. as the ratings indicate, this is a very player friendly layout, and the easier of the two courses on property.
The photos and descriptions in this review are of the Dunes Course, which has four sets of tees that play to 7067 yards/134 slope, 6430 yards/125 slope and 5858 yards/119
slope and 4884 yards with a slope of 109 from the red tee boxes. On property is a clubhouse with pro shop, restaurant/lounge with outdoor patio serving lunch and dinner menus,
plus banquet/outing facilities for up to 225 people.
The practice facilities include a 40-station grass range, short game area with sand bunker plus four putting/chipping greens. A series of private and group lessons is offered, from
a staff of PGA professionals. Each course has yardage markers at 100, 150 and 200 yards, 150 yard stakes on all par fours and fives, and sprinkler heads that are measured to
the center of the green. Color coded flags indicate the day's front, middle and back hole locations.
DUNES COURSE
The Dunes Course is a Pete and Perry Dye Scottish links style course, that meanders along the South Platte River. The course has been recognized as "one of America's most
affordable courses (Golf Magazine), # 1 public course in Colorado ( Colorado Golfer Newspaper), one of America's best courses everyone can play and Top 75 public course (Golf Digest).
The ample, mildly rolling fairways are highlighted with tall native grasses framing the perimeters, with strong gnarly rough built into the mounds that often border the playing
surfaces. The green complexes are usually accessible - open in front with bunkers to either side, and are mildly undulating. The par three 8th is our favorite hole - a beauty that
plays over a pond. The par four 15th is also aesthetically beautiful with a water hazard to the left that requires some degree of carry on the approach. The wood walled tee areas
and green on the par three 17th also make this hole memorable.
In total there are 44 soft sand bunkers and water hazards come into play on 9 of the holes. This is an interesting layout with plenty of challenge, but is also playable for the average
