ARROWHEAD GOLF CLUB (303-973-9614)
Colorado Golf Course Review
Noted as one of the most photographed golf courses in the nation, Arrowhead Golf Club in Littleton - south of Denver, is a 4 star (Golf Digest Places to Play) Robert Trent Jones Jr
design featuring extreme elevation changes, abundant native wildlife, and dramatic vistas along a rolling landscaped terrain. Thousands of feet of ancient red sandstone rocks
tower above the playing surfaces on this course, which has been voted the # 1 course in the Denver area.
Visitors will pass through the gates at Roxborough Park, to view the cathedral like conglomerate rocks jutting up from the foothills of the Rockies. The vistas from the parking lot
and from the porch at the clubhouse are spectacular. Golfers are blessed to play on a terrain and environment that would satisfy tourists seeking a secluded national park experience.
The amenities here include a clubhouse with pro shop plus restaurant/lounge serving breakfast, lunch and dinner menus. The outdoor patio is worth the price of admission, as
the views are quite intense. Practice facilities include a targeted grass range and chipping/putting greens. Each cart is equipped with a cooler and rear weather cover.
Each scorecard provides hole-diagrams with tips on how to play each hole. The green configurations are also diagramed with bunkers and depth and width noted. On course 100,
150 and 200 yard stakes are situated along the manicured fairways and each tee box also has measurements to the center of the greens. Four sets of tee boxes play to
distances and slopes measuring 6636 yards/137 slope, 6302 yards/136 slope for men and 147 for women, 5902 yards/128 slope for men and 143 for women and 5338 yards
with a slope of 119 for men and 132 for ladies hitting from the forward tees. As these ratings indicate, golfers should be prepared to bring their "A" games.
There are 62 soft sand bunkers situated near the landing zones or greenside, and water hazards come into play on 8 holes with just 1 forced carry off the tee. The fairways are
ample but frequently sloped, and the medium sized green complexes range from flat to quite undulating.
Golfers will encounter quite a few memorable holes. Some of our favorites include: the par four 4th, which plays from an elevated to a green complex that is fronted by a pond; the
part three 9th with a raised tee area playing towards the red rocks; the par three 13th with a tee box situated between the red rocks; and number 14 which plays over a pond on the approach.
This is a spectacular golf experience - NOT TO BE MISSED. Play it for its beauty or for the challenge...either way you can't go wrong. For more info, visit our page for Arrowhead with
