BLACK BEAR GOLF CLUB (303-840-3100)
Colorado Golf Course Review
Black Bear Golf Club in Parker is a beautiful residential course that provides one of Colorado's most affordable and unique golf experiences. The landscape is carved from a
series of ravines arroyos with over 200 feet of elevation changes along the layout, providing all levels of players with challenge and aesthetic beauty.
Located south of Denver and NE of Colorado Springs, this wonderfully maintained course offers dramatic views of the Rocky Mountains from Pikes Peak to Longs Peak, with an
abundance of wildlife that can be observed residing in their natural habitats. The rolling hills and extensive natural areas are complimented by sand features which include over 50
strategically located bunkers. Water hazards in the form of ponds come into play on 2 holes, and several others present carries over creek beds..
On property is a clubhouse with well stocked pro shop plus Champions Restaurant serving breakfast, lunch and dinner items, plus banquet outing facilities that can cater to
outings and special events. There is an outdoor patio with wonderful views, and the dining area features a stone fireplace plus hand-carved, full length Irish bar. Practice facilities
consist of a targeted grass range, short game area with sand bunker plus putting green. On course the yardage marking system consists of sprinklers heads measured to the
center of the green and 150 yard posts on the fairways on all par fours and fives. Each golf cart a chart with information on the daily pin placements.
Golfers will encounter finely conditioned putting surfaces on green complexes that vary in size and shape, with subtle slopes and undulations. There are generally ample landing
zones off the tee, but several approaches are tight and demand carries over deep ravines and gullies. Mounding and swales can create some challenging recovery opportunities
as well. Elevated tees come into play on the beautiful closing holes on each side.
There are 4 sets of tee boxes that play to distance and slopes measuring 7143 yards/136 slope, 6706 yards/132 slope, 6277 yards/131 slope and 5241 yards with a slope of 129
for those hitting from the forward tees. As the slope ratings indicate - this can be a challenging experience. Those playing from the tips will especially have some formidable
carries. Wind can play a big role as well.
We highly recommend Black Bear! The course is beautiful, fun and challenging, and the price is right. For more info, visit our page for Black Bear with a direct link to their website by clicking here.
