FOX HOLLOW AT LAKEWOOD GOLF CLUB (303-986-7888)
Colorado Golf Course Review
Fox Hollow at Lakewood is a beautiful Denis Griffiths design that features 27 holes of championship golf, with three distinctive nines situated within Bear Creek Lake Park. The
photographs and information in this review are of the Canyon and Meadows nines. The Links is the longest of the 3 as the 5 tee boxes play to 3555, 3411, 3244, 2827 and 2582
yards. The sister course to Fox Hollow - The Homestead, is located a couple miles down the road and is a shorter course with a wonderful group of par threes.
With plentiful natural wetlands and numerous ponds, Fox Hollow is a perfect habitat for abundant native wildlife including foxes, red-tailed hawks, deer and coyotes. The property
gained national prestige as it was given the first annual Environmental Steward Award. The property is one of the only golf courses in the country to be completely handicap accessible.
The Canyon nine is the most dramatic of the three, as the tract winds up and down over deep ravines with carries over creek beds and natural areas. The initial hole plays uphill
and the 2nd begins from an elevated tee, setting the tone that golfers will experience throughout the round. The approaches are particularly challenging, with carries to mildly
undulating green complexes that are protected by mounds and bunkers.
The Meadows nine plays along a most level terrain with a significant amount of water hazards that will challenge the games of all levels of players. The par four second is
particularly beautiful and number 5 is an extremely interesting hole with a tight tee shot over a creek, followed by an approach to a green that is well guarded by a pair of unique
ponds. Golfers will encounter plentiful bridges that lead over the natural areas and marshes, with gorgeous mountain backdrops adding aesthetic beauty.
On property is a full scale practice facility with grass range, short game area with sand bunker and putting green. The restaurant/lounge and patio serves breakfast and lunch
menus daily and the clubhouse also features a well stocked pro shop. The Canyon measures 3475 yard while the Meadows plays to 3333. Slope ratings for the varying
configurations of the 3 nines measure from 133 to 112. There are 15 holes with water hazards and 49 sand bunkers are situated about the 27 holes.
The marking system on course includes 150 yard stakes on all par fours and fives, with sprinkler heads also measured to the center of the green. The pin placements rotate from
front to middle to back. For more info, visit our page for the course with direct link to their website by clicking here.
