HIGHLANDS RANCH GOLF CLUB (303-471-0000)
Colorado Golf Course Review
Highlands Ranch Golf Club is a Hale Irwin designed 18-hole championship course that winds through a residential community with outstanding views of the Rocky Mountain front
range. Located just southwest of Denver, this par 72 layout provides an enjoyable yet challenging experience for all levels of golfers, with rolling hills and a landscape that is
highlighted by 100-year old cottonwood trees.
This immaculately groomed course provides 4 sets of tee boxes that play to distances and slopes measuring 7179 yards/130 slope, 6719 yards/126 slope, 6311 yards/122 slope
for men and 137 for women, and 5346 yards with a slope of 124 for ladies hitting from the forward tees.
There are 46 soft sand bunkers strategically located near the landing zones off the tee, or situated greenside, and water hazards (mostly in the form of the Highline Canal that runs
alongside 4 holes) come into play on 5 holes. sculpted tee areas lead to mildly undulating fairways that are generally wide, and the medium size green complexes generally have
open fronts and often slope from back to front.
Several holes have forced carries over natural areas (from the back tees), but much of the design presents good scoring opportunities. On course golfers will find sprinkler heads
measured to the center of the green, and 150 yard poles are posted in the fairways of all par fours and fives. Uniquely, small metal markers on the 150 yard pole, indicate whether
the hole locations are front, middle and back.
On property is a complete practice facility with grass range, short game area with sand bunker, plus putting green. There also is a members only driving range (membership
opportunities are still available). Custom club fitting and full service club repair are available. The clubhouse features a pro shop plus restaurant/lounge with outdoor patio, that
serves breakfast, lunch and dinner menus.
Highlands Ranch has an experienced teaching staff, and is well known for its instructional programs. Lessons include beginner camps, intermediate camps, and small group
lessons for juniors, plus Dave Pelz Scoring Game Clinics and ESPN Golf Schools, as well as playing lessons for all skill levels. For more info, visit our page for the course, with
