THE RAVEN GOLF CLUB at Three Peaks (970-262-3636)
Colorado golf course review
The Raven Golf Club at Three Peaks in Silverthorne Colorado is a Hurdzan/Fry and Tom Lehman design that is consistently recognized as one of the state's top mountain golf
experiences. Owned and managed by Escalante Golf, this layout is a blend of traditional and modern course architectural design and features awe inspiring vistas of snow
capped peaks, towering pines, mountain streams and meadows of wildflowers.
Situated in the heart of the majestic Colorado Rockies, the Raven plays up and down the mountain sides and features some extreme elevation changes. The par four 9th is very
dramatic as it plays downhill to a roller coaster type fairway, and the back nine begins with a challenging 367 yard hole that plays considerably longer due to its uphill nature. The
group of par threes at the Raven is quite strong, with numbers 8, 12 and 14 starting from high up on a ridge, playing extremely downhill and measuring from 184 to 237 yards from
the tips. One of the keys to scoring well here is to avoid the many intricately shaped bunkers that are strategically situated near the landing zones or greenside, as they can be very
penal in nature.
On property is a clubhouse with well stocked pro shop and restaurant/lounge with outdoor patio serving breakfast and lunch items daily. Practice facilities consist of a targeted
grass range, short game area with sand bunker plus putting green. Each Cart is equipped with Golf Logix GPS, which provides accurate measurements from tee to pin.
In total 72 artistically shaped sand bunkers are spread out along the layout, and water hazards come into play on 5 holes, including the beautiful par three 4th. Golfers will have to
stay out of the fairway traps and avoid the tall native high grasses, if hopes to score well are to be realized. The fairways on this links style layout are generally wide and rolling, and
the green complexes are medium is size and undulating or ridged in form, with collection areas and swales awaiting slightly offline approaches.
There are 4 sets of tee boxes that play to distances and slopes measuring a formidable 7413 yards/146 slope, 6806 yards/136 slope, 6386 yards/130 slope and 5235 yards with
a slope of 133 for ladies hitting from the forward tees. As the slope ratings indicate, golfers can look forward to a challenging round of golf, regardless of the choice of tees.
We highly recommend a round here. Visitors can expect wonderful playing conditions and service, on a course with a memorable environment. For more info, visit our page for
