RIDGE CASTLE PINES NORTH GOLF CLUB (303-688-0100)
Colorado Golf Course Review
The Ridge at Castle Pines North is a 4 1/2 star (Golf Digest Places to Play) Troon Golf facility that has been honored as one of America's best Courses, State by State by Golf
Week Magazine. Set in the foothills of the mighty Rocky Mountains, this Tom Weiskoph championship design features panoramic views of Pikes Peak, Devils Head and Mt Evans,
with some dramatic elevation changes from tee to green.
The course is spectacular and the practice facilities are a good match. On property is a spacious, targeted grass range, exceptional large putting green, plus outstanding short
game area with grass bunker. The initial photo in this review provides a glimpse of one of the best short game practice facilities in the state.
The clubhouse includes a nicely stocked pro shop plus restaurant/lounge that is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The overall facilities have enabled the property to be
awarded "Best Course to hold a Corporate Event" (Coloradobiz Magazine) and "No 1 Best Course to Bring Clients" (Colorado Avid Golfer Magazine).
Carved from a thick forest of Gambel Oaks and Ponderosa Pines in the foothills of the Front Range, The Ridge at Castle Pines North is open for public play, and is situated about
30 minutes south of Denver. Ample, manicured fairways are graced with prominent rock outcroppings and sculpted bunkers, and large sloping green complexes are also well
protected by strategically placed sand traps.
In total there are 74 sand bunkers of varying shapes and sizes situated about the course and water hazards come into play on 4 holes. Conditioning from tee to green is superb,
and golfers will also find the course well marked with sprinkler heads measured to the center of the green and 100, 150 plus 200 yard markers posted near the cart paths on all
par fours and fives. A pin placement sheet on all carts provides information on the day's hole locations.
There are 4 sets of tee boxes, ranging in distance and slope from 7013 yards/134 slope, 6490 yards/128 slope, 6002 yards/122 slope for men and 129 for women, and 5011
yards with a slope of 123 for ladies playing from the forward tees. While visually stunning with some intimidating looks from the tees, this course plays fair is a great experience for
all levels of golfers.
From the back tees there are some formidable carries, as witnessed by the above photograph, which provides a view from the championship tees over a deep rock studded ravine
. The four par threes on this course are absolutely beautiful. The photo above left features an image taken from a precipice above the 17th green. Golfers will encounter some
extremely undulating fairways with slopes that will leave lies below and above the feet, as the terrain here is quite rolling. Collection areas and swales greenside will also keep the
round interesting.
This is one of those Must Play golf experiences, that helps to define what visitors will enjoy most about Colorado Golf - a fine layout with spectacular vistas. We highly recommend
a round here! For more info, visit our page for the course, with direct link to their website by clicking here.
