UTE CREEK GOLF COURSE (303-774-4342)
Colorado Golf Course Review
Ute Creek in Longmont between Denver and Boulder is a Robert Trent Jones II design that has been recognized as a 4-star course by Golf Digest Places to Play. Opened for play
in 1097, this championship layout is the only Robert Trent Jones II layout in the northern Front Range and is owned and operated by the city of Longmont Golf Services.
The terrain includes 5 lakes, 2 creeks, and multi-level fairways that are flanked by tall native grasses that add challenge and aesthetic beauty. The landing zones are wide - inviting
golfers of all skill levels to try their luck, but they are also well bunkered. The large green complexes are often raised but present open fronts with traps situated on the sides. There
is usually plenty of recovery room for players to adjust from slightly off line approaches.
Four sets of tees play to distances and slopes that measure 7167 yards/132 slope, 6750 yards/125 slope, 6196 yards/120 slope for men and 137 for women, and 5509 yards with
a slope of 128 for ladies hitting from the forward tee areas. On course sprinkler heads are measured to the center of the green, 150 yard stakes are posted on all par fours and
fives, and 100, 150 and 200 yard markers are also present.
Golfers will encounter 43 soft sand bunkers along the fairways or greenside, and water hazards in the form of lakes or perimeter creeks come into play on 7 holes. Some of the
more interesting holes include: #8 which is a par three over a pond, numbers 10 and 11 which feature beautiful natural areas, # 12 which demands a carry over a pond off the tee,
number 14 which has a natural area with a creek to the right and # 18 which features a creek that runs the length of the hole on the right and a pond greenside.
The backside is very interesting with extensive natural areas, marshes and abundant native wildlife. On property is a clubhouse with pro shop plus snack bar with covered outdoor
patio that doubles as an outing pavilion. Practice facilities include a grass range, short game area with sand bunker and putting green.
